Today I have made perhaps the most remarkable discovery, one that may well alter the course of history itself. Upon my recent visit to the hallowed halls of Montmajour Abbey, I chanced upon whispers of a clue hidden in, of all things, a painting by the mad pauper, Vincent van Gogh. It was said to have been gifted to the monks as a token of gratitude for his stay within these sacred walls. This painting, The Starry Night Over Montmajour, as it is reputedly called, is purported to contain a celestial secret that has been zealously guarded by monks loyal to the Thalasian Order.

In my quest for the truth, I have delved into the annals of the abbey’s history and have stumbled upon a tale most tragic, involving a young monk, Brother Ambrose, who, in defiance of his sacred vows, fell prey to the allure of a local maiden named Isabelle. It was said that Brother Ambrose, smitten with Isabelle, would meet her in the dead of night beneath the starry sky near the entrance of the abbey’s crypt. Their clandestine affair was brought to an untimely end when Isabelle’s cold, lifeless body was found lying on the very steps where she and Brother Ambrose had shared many a stolen moment.

As I delved further into the tale, I came across an obscure entry in Brother Ambrose’s diary, wherein he speaks of a hidden chamber within the abbey, accessible only through an entrance in the crypt. He writes, “For the love I bear Isabelle, I have entrusted our secret to the stars that once bore witness to our passion. Van Gogh’s painting shall remain concealed within the chamber, and the truth shall sleep with us, entwined for eternity.”
